Turning Networks Green
The Irish ICT sector faces increasing scrutiny regarding its environmental impact. As demand for digital services continues to grow, organisations are under pressure to demonstrate that sustainability and technology growth can go hand in hand.
Asiera operates a significant digital infrastructure footprint, utilising multiple data centres and supporting critical services for Ireland's education and research community. While data centres are often highlighted in discussions around energy consumption, our experience demonstrates that meaningful improvements are possible through a sustained focus on efficiency, measurement and continuous improvement.
Since establishing our sustainability baseline, Asiera has improved its energy efficiency by over 70% while continuing to support the growing needs of our community. This progress has been accompanied by year-on-year reductions in electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
This session will share Asiera's sustainability journey, including the initiatives that delivered measurable results, the challenges encountered, and the lessons learned along the way. We will discuss the metrics that mattered most, how we identified opportunities for improvement, and the practical steps taken to reduce environmental impact across our operations.
Attendees will gain insight into how sustainability targets can be translated into meaningful action, how progress can be measured effectively, and how organisations can improve environmental performance while continuing to deliver essential digital services.
